Fun Toys For Dogs – Safe, Interactive And Cheap

Fun Toys For Dogs – Safe, Interactive And Cheap

Top dogs deserve safe, fun toys but it is not easy to find toys for dogs that are indestructible and cheap at the same time.

Unruly behaviour in dogs is often caused by boredom and being left home alone with no fun dogs toys to play with. Every dog needs exercise and mental stimulation. Owners cannot always be on hand to take their dog for a walk or play with them for whatever reason. A few well chosen dogs’ toys is the answer to keep your dog happy and content.

There are many types of toys for dogs such as tug/pull toys, chew toys, soft toys and interactive toys in all price ranges but you should make certain that any toy you give your dog is safe. Many cheap dogs toys are those that contain little plastic squeakers in them which can really harm your dog and usually a dog will be intent on pulling the squeaker out and do so within ten minutes of having the toy! Vets see more dogs in distress through swallowing small toy parts than any other type of accident. So safety is a big issue when it comes to dog or puppy toys.

Toys for dogs should be fun and engage your dog in play – interactive dog and puppy toys are a popular good choice as your dog can either play alone with these toys or you can join in too.

I have an 8yr old westie who loves to play – his favourite dogs toys of all time are his talking babble balls (interactive dog toys) which provide him with hours of fun! We often play together by me chasing Dougs and kicking the talking babble ball across the kitchen floor with him darting around after this toy that keeps coming out with smart little sayings in a really cute voice such as are you ready to go? or youre looking great big doggy! The interactive balls are made of hard plastic and virtually indestructible so they really are good value toys for dogs. Dougie has had at least 6 of these talking babble balls since they came out about 4 yrs ago but now PetQuerks who manufacture the dogs toys have made the latest ones with replaceable batteries making the toy just right. The talking babble balls are very safe for your dog as the battery container is concealed within so that your dog cannot get anywhere near it. This interactive dog toy is safe, fun and indestructible, making ideal puppy toys too. Apparently the toys are also popular with children and cats love the small talking babble ball.

Lap Dogs Common Lap Dog Types

Lap Dogs Common Lap Dog Types

The lap dog is a type of dog that is so small it can be held in your arms with ease. They are cute dogs that can be carried around like an accessory. They are usually owned by people who like having their pet with them all the time.

Lap dogs first made their appearance in society among the high class individuals. They were portrayed as gentle companion dogs that kept people amused during leisure time. These laid-back types of dogs simply enjoy to be cuddled and to be played with, but yet again, which dog doesn’t?

Pug

The Pug is a very demanding and sensitive lap dog. He needs constant attention and caressing. If you are always busy or simply can’t stand your dog following you everywhere then the Pug is not the dog for you. Also they love sitting on the furniture.

This type of dog is very sensitive to weather conditions. You should be really careful when taking him out for a walk. Pugs really prefer sitting indoors, where they will try and mark their territory. Overall the cuteness of this dog comes at the price of a stubborn pet.

Chihuahua

A dog bread as a companion pet, the Chihuahua is an excellent dog for people who simply want an amusing pet with which they can cuddle up. They love the attention and get great satisfaction from pleasing their owner. They do this by performing tricks or by simply acting silly.

Ideal for the apartment, these types of dogs will be happy living in a restrained space. But, like all dogs they should get their share of outside time, preferably when it is warm and sunny. If walking him is a bother, they can be trained to use a litter box. All in all, they are excellent lap dogs.

Pomeranian

This small fluffy type of dog is amongst the more energetic lap dog breeds. He is eager to learn from his owners and simply attract their attention through all kinds of activities. A key element is to teach him who is the boss. A firm hand is strongly advised.

Once he is well educated, this type of dog will bring lots of joy in your life. He is a great dog for an apartment and will love to both play and cuddle. It all depends on what you want him to do. Pomeranians are excellent family dogs.

We just saw that lap dogs are affectionate creatures that love their masters. They will gladly perform any task needed but they will demand lots of care and attention.

Great Names For Dogs And Puppies From Foods

Great Names For Dogs And Puppies From Foods

Some of the best dog names come from foods of all kinds, including meats, cheeses, and sweets. These are even better as a dogs name if the dog either especially enjoys the food or is the color of the food.

Dogs love meat, and there are number of meat inspired names for dogs. Tbone and Ribeye are both cuts of beef, and Porkchop is a cut of pork. Meatball and burger are foods normally made with beef. Different Sausages including Hotdog, Schnitzel, and Wiener are great names.

Dogs also love Cheese, and so Cheese and Fromage (which is French for Cheese) are fun choices. More Cheese inspired names are Gouda, Cheddar (especially for a yellow dog), Feta, and Brie (which is best for a female dog).

Some nuts have fun names, and so can be used. Consider Almond (best for a small dog), Cashew, Macadamia (with a nickname of Mac), Pistachio (with a nickname of … um … tach), Peanut (best for a small dog), and to go with those nuts Jelly.

Most dogs love fruit, and so think about Banana (best for a goofball, or a yellow dog, or one who is both) and Peaches (best for a female).

Who does not love breakfast foods – dogs sure do. You can’t go wrong with Waffles (best for a goofball), Toast (best for beige colored fur), Muffin, Strudel, and Scramble (like scrambled eggs, best for a fast dog).

You can get many excellent names from Sweets or Desserts. Cookies like Nilla (as in Nilla Wafers – best for light fur), Oreo (the black and white cookie – best for a black and white dog), Yodel, Twinkie (best for a yellow dog), Cupcake, Custard (best for yellowish fur), Licorice (best for black fur), Sundae, Pudding (maybe for a plump dog), and Marshmallow (for a white dog).

Even though dogs should never ever eat chocolate you can find good names there, especially for a brown dog. Some examples are Bosco, Coco, and Hershey.

Some names from beverages are Moxie and Cola, which are both good for dogs with brownish fur.

Almost any snack food is a potential name, including Crackers, Triscuit, and Ritz.

Don’t overlook names for dog food, including Biscuit and Kibble.

As you can see, almost any food can be used as a name for a puppy. More names are Pickles, Olive, Chowder, Noodles (another good name for a goofball), Hoagie, and Pepper (for a dog with black fur).

The Frontline For Cats Is Applied On The Cats’ Skin

The Frontline For Cats Is Applied On The Cats’ Skin

Fleas are a form of parasite which lives in the fur of animals like dogs and cats which have a thick fur. The fleas live in the fur depending upon the cat for its food and livelihood. Frontline for cats kills and abolishes the fleas within a day or more in cats. As the frontline for cats is applied on the cats’ skin they are completely cured and the cat becomes free of fleas within a day. In some cases frontline for fleas takes 2 days to affect the cats. Once the frontline for cats is applied the fleas are no more there and the cat is free of fleas for more than 3 weeks or even up to a month. The frontline for fleas can be used on kittens as well which are not too old. But the minimum age of the kitten should be more then 8 weeks.

Moreover the can be equally useful on cats which are pregnant. Another benefit of using the frontline for cats is that it is said to be water proof which makes it applicable on the cats which are outdoor or kept outside the home. These cats are more prone to the dangers of the fleas and the treatment needs to be applied for more than a day. The frontline for fleas should be used on cats after the washing and bathing of cats. The frontline for fleas should be applied to the skin of the cat directly for more than 24 hours. In this interval of 24 hours the pet should be kept away from water or should be kept dry so that the solution affects the cat. Frontline can be used on cats for treating fleas and some other allergies of the cat which are caused by the fleas.

The main thing is that when frontline is applied on the skin; it will absorb the ingredients fully in its skin thus giving better results. That is why frontline is applied on the skin. After that it saves the cat from fleas. The absorbed part releases in the month gradually preventing the fleas. Thus the frontline is needed to be use for only once a month. And keep the cat dry for a day. After the application of the frontline the more fleas become visible and come at the top. Thus you should not be misled that the fleas are increased and the frontline is not useful.

A Little Something About Cats And Their Unique Behavior

A Little Something About Cats And Their Unique Behavior

Did you know that one out of four American households has a cat for a pet. Ailurophiles also known as people who love cats always want to know more about their favorite pets. For that reason we’ve decided to share some facts about cats that you might not know about.

Did you know that:

It has been scientifically proven that stroking a cat can lower one’s blood pressure! Cat’s sense of smell is 14 times stronger than a human’s! Besides their noses, cats can smell with something called the “Jacobson’s organ”, located in the upper surface of their mouths. This is what cats are using when they scrunch up their eyes and open their mouths after sniffing something intently! Cats have 244 bones in their bodies! (About 40 more than humans!) Cats have 32 muscles in each ear! Cats only sweat from the pads of their paws. Cats aren’t hunters by nature; their mothers teach them to hunt! Female cats can reach adulthood in as little as five months, but male cats can take nine months to a year to reach adulthood. Most breeds of cats have reached their full growth by two years! To drink, a cat laps liquid from the underside of its tongue, rather than the top! Cats are said to see color. Studies have been able to prove that cats can distinguish between red and green; red and blue; red and gray; green and blue; green and gray; blue and gray; yellow and blue, and yellow and gray! Whiskers tell a cat whether the space they are entering is big enough for it! The oldest cat on record was a female tabby that lived to be 34 years old! Cats have about 100 different vocalization sounds. In comparison, dogs have about 10! Cats respond most readily to names that end in an “ee” sound! Cats respond better to women than to men, probably due to the fact that women’s voices have a higher pitch! If your cat snores, or rolls over on his back to expose his belly, it means he trusts you! Cats purr at the same frequency as an idling diesel engine…about 26 cycles per second! The domestic cat is the only species able to hold its tail vertically while walking. Wild cats hold their tail horizontally, or tucked between their legs while walking!

Check out some of my favorite cat moments:

This cat is a top trained assassin!Watch it display its mad ninja skills! This cat will kick your butt, for sure!

And how about this one. Even though its obvious thatthe little guy is getting some help, still can’t believe that this cat is actually eating its dinner with a fork.

And when you had a rough day, you sure wanna relax and enjoy the view. This cat sure knows how to do that!

Dogs with Jobs – The Truffle Sniffing Dog

Dogs with Jobs – The Truffle Sniffing Dog

I have a great interest in well trained dogs, especially those trained for specific tasks. Dogs with jobs are fascinating to me. I want to know if the job skill has to do with the breed or if there is any trait that can be trained up for a job. My first job curiosity is the truffle sniffing dog. Can any dog become a truffle sniffing dog or can only certain breeds be used?

There is a great demand for truffles, mostly because they are rare, hard to find, and thus very expensive. Pigs are instinctively drawn to truffles and love to eat them. The hunter has to be very quick to rescue a truffle from a 300 pound pig. The risks are pretty great! Apparently one can lose a finger or two in the process. So other means of truffle hunting evolved – that of the truffle sniffing dog who does not have the innate instincts to eat truffles.

The best dogs for truffle sniffing are dogs with a keen sense of smell, dogs who are calm, obedient, and are not easily distracted, and dogs who are sociable and have great endurance.
Some of the breeds successfully trained for this job include the Italian Lagotto Romanolo, Belgian Malinois, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Dutch Retriever, Springer Spaniel, Poodle, Fox Terrier, and Dachshund. But this job is not limited to those breeds as long as the necessary traits are there.

Dogs can be trained as young as a few months, but young dogs around 8-9 months are desirable. These dogs are trained with a variety of methods, but training for the scent of a truffle is foremost. Some trainers use truffle oil to develop the scent. Others may use gorgonzola cheese and move to the truffle in a gradual process. Apparently gorgonzola cheese has a similar scent to a dog as the truffle. The truffle scented item is buried and the dog is trained to smell until it is located, then scratch the area until the handler can come and dig up the truffle.
Each time the dog successfully finds the buried treasure the dog is rewarded with a food treat or something else the dog loves like a game of ball toss.
Dogs who are successfully trained for this job are in great demand.

You will adore having a cat as a pet once you have the knowledge to care for it properly. It pays to learn all you can about proper cat care. You will love the amount of cat advice that has been provided to you here.

Watch the amount of treats that you give your cat. Like humans, cats can easily overeat junk food. This can cause them to gain weight and may lead to some health problems like heart issues and diabetes. If you do give your cat treats, give them a small amount and make it a special thing instead of a regular routine.

Let kittens and cat-friendly pet dogs get to know each other slowly. Put up a baby gate to keep dogs in one room while your new kitten gets used to its surroundings. Supervise carefully when the kitten ventures to the gate to meet the dogs. When the kitten feels safe, it will climb the gate. If it feels threatened, it will pop right back out to safety.

Set up a nice, warm and comfortable area for your cat to rest in your home. It should be lined with a warm towel or blanket. Make sure to wash the bedding regularly since it can acquire dust, dander, and anything from outside if your cat is an outdoor cat.

If you absolutely must bathe a cat, set everything up in advance. Set up two tubs large enough to dunk a cat. Fill them with comfortably warm water. Set your open bottle of cat shampoo, a heavy towel, and a secure pet carrier close by. Wear heavy rubber gloves. Grasp your cat by the scruff of the neck. Dunk, shampoo and scrub quickly in one tub. Dunk to rinse in the second tub. Wrap the cat securely in the towel and place in the carrier to dry.

A great toy for your cat is a laser pointer. Cats love to chase the laser around and try to catch it. This will help you give your cat some exercise, while your cat is having fun at the same time. It will also help to fine-tune their hunting skills.

Proper care of your pet cat is essential to his happiness and yours. Be sure and use the information in the article below if you are serious about taking care of your cat. With proper care, your cat will live a healthy and vibrant life.

Use Frontline Cats Treatment Now To Destroy Fleas Fast

Fleas cause a lot of problems for pets and families. This is why it is important to choose powerful Frontline cats treatment products. These work fast to destroy adult fleas and prevent them from breeding and taking over your home.

How do Pets Get Fleas?

Britain is a very pet-friendly nation. A large majority of homes have cats or dogs and this means lots of healthy, feeding sources for fleas. The large percentage of pets is just one of the reasons why the flea population thrives.

– With pets frequenting similar areas (such as suburban neighbourhoods, public parks and walking trails) fleas find it so easy to find food that they breed and multiply in vast numbers.

– This means that fleas can be picked up very easily every time you or your pets venture out doors.

– Even housecats that do not go outside can get fleas. They can be carried into the home on clothing and shoes and can also be picked up when you take your cats to the vets.

– This is why it is important to treat pets with Frontline cats treatment products even if they dont appear to have fleas.

– Frontline cats treatment products will work to protect your pets from picking up fleas in the future and treat any fleas that may already be infesting the host.

Treating Fleas

Many people dismiss fleas as annoying parasites. However as well as being annoying for your pets and your family fleas can also cause a number of quite significant problems including:

– Fleas can cause skin problems for pets such as bald patches and sores from scratching.

– Some pets are also highly allergic to flea saliva. This can make them feel very lethargic and cause extensive skin irritation and hair loss.

– Fleas can transfer microscopic tapeworm eggs in their saliva. This can infest both pets and human and cause a number of potentially serious health problems.

– Young kittens and vulnerable senior cats can also suffer from anaemia caused by fleas. This can be potentially life threatening if not treated quickly.

– This is why it is essential that you take steps to protect your family and pets from fleas using Frontline cats treatment products. These powerful treatments work fast to destroy fleas and prevent re-infestation.
