Pets at the Beach

Pets at the Beach

More and more pet owners are taking their pets along on their vacation rather than leaving them at home. And these days, more and more areas and establishments are opening their doors to welcome your pawed friends. One of the most common places everybody loves to go is the beach. Surely, you would love to take your pets along on your trip to the beach. Here are some tips for bringing your pets along to the beach.

Look for Pet-friendly Beaches

First off, you need to know if a certain beach is pet- friendly or not. Some beaches allow pets while most of them dont. Do your own research ahead so you wont have to be surprised to find out that your pet cant swim at the beach with you. Check out the rules and regulations regarding pets in the area you want to go to before you take your pet with you. Otherwise, you will receive hefty fines and citations for not following these rules.

Pet Rules and Regulations

The foremost reason why most beaches do not allow pets is because most people disregard leash laws. Check out the beachs rules regarding leash on pets. Some beaches allow pets to roam free as long as you keep an eye on them while most beaches dont. It is best that your pet is secured and leashed to avoid conflict with other pet owners and other people in the area. Always keep your pet leashed when there is a leash law.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner

That said, be a responsible pet owner when taking your pets with not just at the beach but anywhere you decide to bring them along. Make sure your pet does not bother other people or other pets in the area. You also have to make sure that your pet is well-behaved and is comfortable in the environment youre taking them to.

Cleaning Up

Always clean up after your pet. Surely, you dont want to come across dog waste while enjoying your stay at the beach. Have respect for other beach goers by making sure you clean up after your pet. Whenever you visit a dog-friendly beach, always bring a bag or pooper scooper and be sure to clean up after your pets. Most beaches impose a fine on people who fail to clean up after their pets. Make sure to remove poop, do not bury or leave it.

These are just some of the tips when bringing your pets to pet-friendly beaches. Be a responsible pet owner to your pet and a considerate person to other beach goers.

Is There A Chigger Treatment For Pets

Is There A Chigger Treatment For Pets

Are Your Pets In Need of A Chigger Treatment?

I have been searching of the ultimate chigger treatment for a long long time. I have ve been the victim of so many chigger attacks I feel like I must have “chigger bait” written on me somewhere and those silly chiggers can read.

I learned after many years of sad experience, that dogs and cats carry chiggers pretty much like a mother possom carries her young. That is fastened to them anywhere they can hang on. I had never given a thought to pets being a carrier of misery.

Is it any wonder everytime a body pets or holds or hugs their pets after the pet has been outside for a romp they might have an attack of chiggers. All this while they just know they have not been out in the grass or in the woods.

“Where in the world did those chiggers come from?” Now you know. Do not pet your pet if they have been out beating the bush where chiggers live.

If you want a really good dose of chiggers just park yourself where your pet has been roosting after being outside.

It is necessary to perform a chigger extermination on your pet before you let them back in the house. There are some oils you can apply to your pet to help deter chiggers from hitching a ride on them. Or you can bath them with pretty hot, soapy water if you desire.

(I do not recommned flea collers and such for your pets. They carry deadly toxins and you are exposing your pets and their health to these toxins. If you truly love your pet, find something natural to indoctrinate them.)

If you have been doing this thing, letting your pets back in the house and you are getting chigger bites the best advice I can offer is move out of the house.

Actually, after you have decided on how to handle the pet issue you may need to clear up the chigger problem in the house.

Wash all of your exposed linen in really hot water with good soap and water and a shot of bleach. And dry on high heat. And I do mean anything exposed to your pets.

Did I mention you should also wash your contaminated clothing the same way? No? Do I really need to?

As for upholstery, I would suggest some kind of steam cleaning for upholstered furniture and the carpets.

I know how you feel. Been there and done that. I feel your pain and frustration of trying to find a chigger treatment that works, much less a natural chigger treatment that works. So it is my desire to pass on the benefit of my experience. Use it and pass it on if it is useful to you.

To Gut Your Animal Or To Not Gut Your Animal

To Gut Your Animal Or To Not Gut Your Animal

Up until about 5 years ago I was gutting every big game that I was harvesting every year. I’d do the same procedure every time I’d start at the bottom of the stomach and cut my way up the ponch then I’d do the nasty deed of removing the anal intestine and everything down in that area. Boy that was something that I never looked forward to every year.

It wasn’t until I went hunting with a great friend of mine and he asked me what I was doing as I proceeded to open up the ponch. I told him I was gutting this deer, he started laughing at me and said “I’ll teach you a ten times easier way that’s less nasty and much faster.” He then proceeded to quarter out my deer and was finished in less then 15 minutes flat. I stood there amazed because not only did he quarter that deer out super fast he had almost no blood, gut juice, stomach goo or anything else you get on you when you gut a big game animal. I was sold after that and have never gutted another big animal after that day.

Last year after my father killed his big 6 point elk, we sat there arguing over whether we should gut it and come back tomorrow or hurry and quarter it out before we leave. It was getting dark fast so as you can imagine the argument got heated. I won the argument and ended up quarting him and coming back the next day. It did take a little longer than normal because of the size of the elk but it was definitely less stinky and dirty than gutting the elk.

Whose to say what’s the best method sometimes it depends on where you kill the animal and the size of the animal. If you kill a big animal 5 miles in the back country obviously it’s a no brainer but if you’re lucky enough to be able to get your truck or 4 wheeler up to it then why not take it out whole. I’ve never been lucky enough to able to just back my truck up to the animal.

Both ways have their pros and cons and it just comes down to personal preference or the location of the animal. Something to think this hunting season as you’re about ready to take the knife to your animal.

Be safe and good hunting to everyone!

Pets Spark, The Only Permanent Solution For Dog Tear Stains

Pets Spark, The Only Permanent Solution For Dog Tear Stains

As a pet owner, you have probably tried everything in your power to find a solution to the problem of dog tear stains. These stains are rather unsightly, ruin the soft fur of your favourite pet and certainly can’t be good for the health of your dog. While most products commonly found on the market to this day provide a quick-fix for dog eye stains, none of these products will actually prevent those stains from reappearing in other words, none of these products offer a permanent solution to dog tear stains.

Many people believe that tear stains simply come from excessive tearing, or overactive tear ducts. While this may be true to a certain extent, there is certainly more to it than that. Because of any tearing, the surrounding fur around the eyes is a great breeding ground for any bacteria; its humid and damp, two things essential to the development of any kind of bacteria. Basically, the light reflecting on the moisture area and the bacteria itself contributes to the stains; when the light hits this particular area, it turns the fur into this unsightly brown or reddish shade that we call ‘dog tear stains’.

Pets Spark has decided to not only provide a solution to remove those stains from the eyes of your beloved four-legged friend, but also to attack the problem at its source; the bacteria. Most products, as aforementioned, will take away the stains to give back your dog its original appearance. The problem is that the stains are free to come back at anytime. By using Pets Spark, you will be assured that the bacteria will no longer have the power to breed, as it is attacked by the active ingredients in the Pets Spark formula.

Pets Spark is available under a powdery form. This powder is to be included in your dog’s regular diet to ensure full consumption of the daily dose of Pets Spark. The dose will be gradually augmented until it reaches its peak dosage, then maintained for a certain time and eventually decreased until full removal of the dosage. This will ensure that the active ingredients found in Pets Spark get enough time to attack the bacteria and prevent its reappearance in the future. Pets Spark is available in a few tasty flavours for all taste buds: Beef Liver, Chicken, Vegetarian and Sweet Potato.

If you are looking for a permanent dog tear stains removal solution, look no further. Pets Spark will ensure that not only the existing stains fade away, but that the bacteria causing the coloring of the fur around the eyes of your dog does not have the possibility to breed and live anymore. Your pet will certainly thank you for that and you will be able to parade your beloved dog proudly for years to come!

Exploring The Benefits Of Animal Assisted Therapy

Exploring The Benefits Of Animal Assisted Therapy

Taking a Closer Look at Animal Assisted Therapy

If you or someone you love suffers from a physical or mental disability, you might be interested in learning more about animal assisted therapy. With the many documented benefits of animal assisted therapy, it is certainly a technique that you might want to explore further in order to improve the health of the person you care about.

What is Animal Assisted Therapy?

Animal assisted therapy isnt all about spending time with a cute and cuddly animal, though this can certainly be part of the process. Rather, animal assisted therapy is a type of physical or occupational therapy that involves utilizing animals in order to help meet therapeutic goals. For example, a child with a physical disability or injury that has lead to muscle weakness in the arms may be encouraged to pet an animal with the weak arm. The therapist may also add weights to the childs arm in order to further help strengthen the muscles. With the help of the pet, the child is more motivated to lift the arm and perform the exercises that are necessary for recovery.

What are the Benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy?

The benefits of animal assisted therapy have long been recognized by St. Marys Hospital for Children in New York. In fact, the hospital started a pilot animal assisted therapy program in 1998 and has since expanded the program to include numerous dogs, which provide therapy to children in groups as well as on an individual basis.

In addition to helping encourage children to engage in their prescribed therapy, there are many other benefits of animal assisted therapy. For example, interacting with animals can improve the overall quality of life of the sick or injured child. As a result, it can help speed up recovery time. Furthermore, the bonds that children form with animals can be quite beneficial and results in the pet serving as a sort of co-therapist in the childs therapeutic program.

Another one of the benefits of animal assisted therapy is that caring for the animals can help special needs children develop more independence. By having them feed, groom and otherwise care for the animal, children can improve their fine motor skills, cognitive skills, dressing skills, play skills and more.

The reality is that spending time with a loving pet makes everyone feel better, whether in need of therapy or not. So, if allowing a furry, four-legged friend to interact with sick children can help them heal faster, why wouldnt you implement animal assisted therapy into a therapeutic program?

Global Animal Health Market Emerging Markets Driving Growth — Aarkstore Enterprise

Global Animal Health Market Emerging Markets Driving Growth — Aarkstore Enterprise

The animal health market is growing, albeit at a slower rate, in the recessionary economic phase. Two factors are working in favor of the industry – pet owners’ love for their companion animals and the economic reasons for the treatment of livestock or farm animals.

The -livestock- segment, a high-volume market that represents around 57% of the international animal health market is guided mostly by economic concerns as the market has to meet the growing demand in protein requirements in developing countries. Increase in demand for protein inevitably leads to increase in demand for food-producing animals.

Emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia are witnessing an increase in share of the total pie of the animal health industry because of the increasing importance given to animal health by the livestock breeders. As these regions are showing very strong economic growth in the past few years, livestock breeders are giving due importance to the better management of livestock to cater to the growing nutritional needs of populations. But with various kinds of diseases reducing global animal production, animal healthcare is gaining significant importance. Emerging economies thus offer significant potential for animal health industry in the near future

The mature markets of North America and Western Europe, however, are supporting the growth of animal health market as these regions are characterized by strong growth, particularly in the -companion animals- sector.

The animal health market is highly concentrated, with the top nine players controlling more than 80% of the total market. Recent acquisitions of Fort Dodge (Wyeth) by Pfizer and Intervet by Schering-Plough have further consolidated the market.

Pets Giving Your Cat A Pill

Pets Giving Your Cat A Pill

Giving a cat a pill can be a nightmare. No cat wants something shoved down his throat, and he will fight you tooth and nail to prevent it. Although most cats are small in size, youd be quite amazed with how much power they actually have. There are ways that you can get your cat to take his pills, which we will cover below.

The easiest way to give a cat pill is to crush the power into a powdery form by putting it between two spoons. Once the pill is powder, mix it in with some wet cat food. Cats that are used to eating dry cat food will see the wet food and think of it as a treat. They will normally eat it up, unaware that they just took their medicine.

If the medicine happens to be in capsule form, all you have to do is pry the capsule apart then sprinkle the medicine on some wet food and serve it to your pet. If the food also contains the pill or if your pet is sick, chances are he wont eat it. In this event, you should look into a pet piller. You can get these handy devices from your veterinarian. They are plastic rods that hold the pill until you press a plunger. When you get one, you should always get a long one with a softer tip.

When you get your gun, your vet should show you how to use it. The most difficult aspect of using the gun is getting your cat to open his mouth. The gun will more or less shoot the pill in the cats mouth, and down his throat. Youll need to hold him tight, to make sure that he doesnt wiggle his way loose. Once you have his mouth open, youll need to squeeze the trigger and pull the gun away quickly. After the pill has been inserted, make sure you give your cat a treat.

If you arent comfortable using the gun, you can always try giving your cat his pills by hand. To do it this way, youll need to hold your cat still, and open his mouth with your hand. Once you have his mouth open, you should aim for the back of his throat and throw the pill in. Once it is in his mouth, you should close his mouth with your hand and hold it shut for a few moments. This way, your cat will swallow the pill if he hasnt already.

If you cant get any of the above techniques to work, you can always go to a local pharmacy and get them to a make flavored gel or liquid using your cats medication. You should use this as a last resort though, as it can tend to get expensive.
